Description
Pre-Columbian, Border Ecuador/Colombia, Karchi culture, ca. 800-1500 CE. This group includes two ceramic vessels, one olla and one bowl created in negative resist technique in which designs are applied with melted wax and the bowl is then dipped in colored slip. The olla shows indications of geometric motifs created via this technique and has small lugs at the neck for suspension. The decorations on the bowl are less vivid. Overall, a handsome pair. ~4"H x 4 1/2"D at widest (olla); 3 1/4"H x 6 1/4"D (bowl)

Condition
Olla shows normal surface wear with bit of erosion on bottom. Bowl shows loss of black painted decoration and chips to the rim. Else intact and appear excellent.
