Three CDVs of Indiana BBGs: George P. Buell, George F. Dick, and John M. Lindley 

Buell, George Pearson (1833-1883). A native of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Buell enlisted as Lt. Col. of the 58th IN Infy. in Dec. 1861. He was promoted to Col. in June 1862. A civil engineer before the war, he received a brevet as BG in Jan 1865 for "able management of pontoon trains," plus brevets as Col. (3.2.67) for service at Missionary Ridge, and BG for faithful service during the war (3.2.67). He mustered out of volunteer service in July 1865. He continued to serve, becoming Lt. Col. of the 29th US Infy in July 1866. He transferred to the 11th Infy. in March 1869 and promoted to Col. in command of the 15th US Infy. He died in 1883 while on duty in Nashville, TN. He was a cousin of Don Carlos Buell. Cdv with backmark of Anthony, New York.

Dick, George Frederick (1829-1914). Dick enlisted in July 1861 as Captain in the 20th IN Infy. He was promoted to Major in Aug. 1862. Nov. 1862 found him promoted to Lt. Col. of the 86th IN Infy. He was promoted to Col. in Jan. 1863. He received his brevet BG in March 1865. He mustered out in June with the 86th in Nashville. Backmark of Chapman & Ennis, "Soldiers' Picture Gallery," Attica, IN.

Lindley, John Marshall (1831-1874). Lindley enlisted as a Captain in July 1861 and was commissioned into Co. F, 19th IN Infy. He was promoted to Major (5.1.63), Lt. Col. (4.10.64), and Col., but did not muster into the latter rank. He did receive a brevet colonelcy ("meritorious conduct at the battle of Gainesville, VA"), and brevet BG ("gallantry and good conduct" at Gettysburg) on 13 March 1865.  He mustered out in October 1864 at Petersburg. Cdv of Lindley in civilian attire with backmark of Golden, Washington, DC.

Buell with pencil ID and orange 2 cent stamp on verso. Dick with very minor foxing along bottom edge. Lindley with clipped corners, about average handling wear. All with pencil IDs on verso.
