Circa 1840 Terrestrial Pocket Globe of the Earth Published by J.G. Klinger in Nuremburg. Very Attractive Ensemble of 1-3/4 Inch Diameter Globe with 12 Engraved and Hand-Colored Paper Gores Over a Solid Core with Metal Pinions Fitted Into Grooves Into a Display Box. Lid is a Printed, Hand Colored Image of Three Students Studying a Pocket Globe and a Table Globe with a World Wall Map Backdrop. Terrestrial Ocean Buff Color Type Pocket Subject Globe 1-3/4 Inch Meridian Horizon Ring. The Cylindrical Paperboard Box has a Flat Horizon Ring with Engraved Seasonal and Zodiacal Names. Atop the Box. The Globe Itself is Quite Precise and Updated with Alaska, New South Wales, Col.(ony) of G(ood) Hope, and Wilke('s) Land in Antarctica Discovered 1840-42. Oregon Shown as Part of the United States. Prominent Texas is Separate from Mexico. "West India" (islands) Appears Oddly off Charleston area. "Australia" Covers Most of South Pacific, with New Holland name on Australia Itself. A Few Very Minor Scuffs on Paper Box Cover; Minor Scuff at Wilke Land on Globe. Otherwise in Very Good Condition.
