Description
An attractive Apulian plate with a lady of fashion, Magnia Graecia, c. 325 - 300 BC, the woman’s head is depicted facing left, wearing a radiate stephane, ribbon sakkos and pendant earrings; a pearl necklace around her neck, a floral element is to either side. She is within a encircling border of wave pattern, surrounded by a laurel band, with strokes on the rim. Dia: 9 3/8 in (23.8 cm). Single break repaired. Ex Suffolk, England private collection.
