Description
A lively Mayan vessel in the form of a crocodile, c. AD 600 - 900, with fierce countenance, the body hollow with rounded bottom, a perforation on either side of the opening, probably for attachment of some kind of lid. L: 9 7/8 in (25 cm). Minor restoration, nicely burnished deep chocolate brown surfaces. Ex Heritage Auctions.
