Description
A matched pair of fine Lambayeque (Sican) figures from Peru, c. 700 - 1300 AD. These examples of the famous 'Labret Ladies' are 5-1/2 in high and depict a female drummer playing her drum with a baton held in her left hand. Each figure has a large shuspa slung over her shoulders and appears to be holding an object, probably intended to represent a rattle, with her feet. Ex Benjamin Pritz estate.
