This highly attractive pin sports 90 stones with an estimated weight of 1.30 ct. There is also a cabochon emerald serving as the eye. All are set in silver. Since it has the marking "Castle Connel/May 1889" on the back, one can only speculate it is Castle Connell in Ireland, known for its world class salmon and trout fishing on the River Shannon and this rare spectacular gem could have been either designed for a customer or offered as a fishing prize of some sort.
