Description
The saddle was purchased in Butte, Montana by Dale Moore. It previously belonged to Tony Konda and it has hi brand on the back of the cantle. He was a long time resident of the Elk Park, Montana area. The saddle is typicalof the 1870ās California style. The tree with the high tipped up horn, the refined tooling, and general appearance would all support the origins of the tree and craftsmanship. This saddle is all original.The following California tree makers of the 1870ās era are typical of the style. The Ladesma trees named for Toby Ladesman, who worked for T. Salazar. The Salazar saddlerywas located in Visalia, California beginning in the 1860ās. Also in Visalia was David Walker founder of the famous Visalia Saddlery. Walker was trained in the 1860ās in the Main and Winchester Saddlery thatestablished in San Francisco in 1849. Both Main and Winchester and Visalia companies used this style of tree.
