Rococo style tea or coffee set of high quality
This three-piece sterling silver service was made by Marshall & Sons in Edinburgh and comprises a teapot, a creamer and a sugar bowl. It is designed in Rococo style and features a lush floral decoration. The cartouches on the creamer and pot are left empty. The handle on the pot is fitted with two insulating rings made of bone. The creamer and sugar bowl stand on little volute feet and are gilded on the inside. The ensemble is of very good quality and illustrates the early phase of Britain’s historicist taste.
Every piece is hallmarked with duty mark, Edinburgh city marks, maker’s mark ‘M & S’ and date letter ‘S’ (1835).
The set is in good condition with light signs of wear. The pot measures 16 cm in height. The total weight is approx. 1,255 grams.
