An Egyptian wood ‘mummy tag’ with Greek name, c. 1st - 2nd Century AD, of typical form with tapered end holed for suspension, written in black pigment is CANCNWC ΠECVPIOC (Sansnos Pecurius), the name of the person the tag belonged to. Intact with some weathering and mineral deposits. Rarely offered and choice! Ex Orange County private collection.
