China, ca. 202 BCE - 220 CE. Terracotta funerary figure of a sitting hen showing traces of polychrome. Skillful modeling of the head, schematic rendition of the wings and prominent tail. Chickens and birds were common mortuary figures during the Han Dynasty and the North Wei Dynasty (386–534 CE). Height 7.5 cm (3"), Height with stand 12.7 cm (5"), Length 8.5 cm (3.3"). Custom stand.
