Description
German hand painted porcelain plaque depicting the goddess Diana with a lion, after the painting by Angelo Comte de Courten (Italian 1848-1925). Plaque depicts the draped deity holding an arrow with a quiver around her waist and embracing a lion reclining on a plinth. Signed lower right, "F. Beck" (sp?). Impressed marks en verso with numbers, letter code and scepter-like mark, possibly KPM. Housed in a contemporary gilt wood frame. Plaque - 7.5"x 10", Framed - 12" H x 14 1/4" W. Circa 1900. Provenance: Crossville, TN collection.
Condition
Overall excellent condition, blacklighting does not reveal any inpainting or restoration. Small in the firing indention on the right side background.
