Description
Egypt, New Kingdom, Ca 1540 to 1070 BCE. Group of three carved and glazed steatite scarabs, each worn for good luck and holding magical spells and charms. One shows Isis and Horus on Throne, another with Thoth, final with striding king. All between 14 and 15mm L.
Provenance: Ex-Philip Mitry collection brought into the US in the 1950's. Mitry was a noted antiquarian in Cairo in the 1940's and early 1950's before emigrating to the US.
