Each of the faces of this beautiful box is clad with thinly sliced and highly polished slices of malachite, in a dazzling array of shades of the distinctive green coloring. To create a dazzling contrast, large cross-cut slices of wonderfully concentric growth are laid on a ground of the more intricate growth patterning of bubbling, galactic appearance. Lined with polished black onyx, with gilt interior fittings, on four hemispherical clear quartz feet, it measures 9 1/2 x 6 3/8 x 3 3/4 inches.
