Description
Colima west Mexico, Ca 200 BCE to 200 CE. First, a pottery "flat" dog - exceedingly rare - laying flat on its belly, head bent backwards biting at fleas, or something else, tail held alertly, incised lines along its sides. Next, a very fat turtle rattle. Rounded body, legs splayed in all directions, head with sly smile, holes in the body and rattling stone inside, remains of red pigment. Dog 4-1/2" L, turtle 3".
