Description
Large Continental Majolica Ewer, 19th c., the scrolled handle on a tapered body with floral and figural decoration, on four shell form feet, the underside impressed "A" and "507," H.- 33 in., W.- 13 in., D.- 8 1/2 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age. A few minor flea-sized losses to gilt and paint scattered throughout. Crackling of the glaze is observed in several areas, especially at the tapered base of the ewer. A slight ¼ inch separation is noted between the fish and the ewer at the base. One point is chipped off from the figure’s green crown. Dust debris is observed, with several areas darkened, possibly by dirt. A striking example.
