Description
Cover photo: Pécsi, József. "A Műterem. Ismeretterjesztő folyóirat hivatásos fényképészek részére". "The Studio. Educational magazine for professional photographers". 1929. Volume II. May-June, 5-6 issue. Magazine, illustrated with black and white photos. 13,7x19 cm. 15p. In Hungarian. Important document of the work of world-famous Hungarian photographers, such as József Pécsi. The journal shares his essay about still-life photography, illustrating it with his object photos of Modiano cigarettes and other famous products. These photos of Pécsi are excellent examples of the early advertising photography in Hungary. The cover shows an ad photo for Tátra washing powder. József Pécsi (1889-1956) was a portraitist, a fine art photographer, a master of his profession honoured with the „gold wreath” (the highest award of that time), specialist, teacher of his trade, art collector. His pictorialist portraits, landscapes, - adverts that amalgamated the elements of new objectivity, still lifes, avant-garde nudes, and his new approach to portraits of people have all proved to be enduring and in many cases have inspired numerous followers.
