Description

RARE BOAT MODEL IN FITTED CASE - Model of the 25' LOA Catamaran 'Amaryllis'. Designed and built by the famous boat designer Nathaniel Green Herreshoff in 1875, the Amaryllis was the first catamaran built in the United States. Consignor indicates this model was built in 1922 by the father of Ogden Pleisner, a well known painter. Hull measures 54" LOA (90" from tip of bowsprit to end of main boom); beam: 36", height to top of mast: 66". Complete with the original (fragile) sails. 7 1/2" x 57" x 12" case. Includes the book "Herreshoff Sailboats' by Gregory O. Jones, which illustrates a 1933 rebuild of the original craft on page 21. Additional photos are on our website: thomastonauction.com
