Description
UTAGAWA KUNISADA (1786 - 1865, FROM 1844 TOYOKUNI III). ORIGINAL WOODBLOCK PRINT. Japan, 1851/53. FORMAT: ca. 37 x 25,6 CM
Matsumoto Koshiro VI. Original woodblock print from the series Haika Shoga Kyogan – “Poems, calligraphy, drawings and facesâ€. Signature: Azusamoto no oju Toyokuni ga (painted on the behalf of the published Toyokuni). 1851 / 53, very good in print and color. The series was created during the time of the Tempo reforms and anti-luxury laws, which among other things forbid the depiction of actors on woodblock prints.
