Description The coins follow a line in descending order from left to right, half-dollar to penny. They have a hard case, within which is a blue backing in which the coins are set. The backing has silver lettering in the bottom right corner, "Packged By U.S. Mint," and along the top, "United States Special Mint," with the image of the eagle holding the arrows and the olive branch.
Condition All coins are in mint state, with no obvious flaws or imperfections. The original hard casings show slight signs or wear and marring.Meta: CoinsMeta: Proof Set
History Because of a coin shortage during the mid-1960s, the U.S. Mint did not issue Proof Sets from 1965-1967. Instead, “Special Mint Sets” featuring extra high-quality uncirculated coins were produced.
