Description
Two early 20th century 9ct gold brooches and a later gem-set brooch. To include a bird and floral design brooch, a geometric bar brooch, together with a garnet and cultured pearl scrolling bar brooch. Two with hallmarks for Chester, 1913 and Birmingham, 1997. Lengths 4.6 to 4.4cms. Weight 7.9gms.
Condition
Overall condition good to fair. Surface scratches and discolouration in keeping with general wear and age. The pins on the older brooches are base metal replacements. The clasp on the first bird and floral design brooch is deficient. The garnet is aa slightly brownish-red with fairly good clarity showing typical inclusions under magnification. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers in our catalogue or on our website for coloured gemstones. The cultured peals are well matched, with a white body colour, pink overtones and fairly good lustre. Without the aid of laboratory equipment, it has not been possible to determine if these cultured pearls are from a fresh or saltwater source. One brooch is stamped 9ct, RP.
