Rare report on the Northern Pacific Railroad as it was being planned, with two notable maps. As Howes describes it, "Printed for distribution to directors only, presenting facts and operations which at the time it was inadvisable to make public." The two maps on banknote paper are: "Map of the Harbors of Puget Sound and Cowling Valley Washington Territory from the United States Land Surveys" (148x38.5 cm.) (this with a few tears at darkening where sheets are joined together), and "Map of the Country West of the Dakota to the Pacific Ocean from the Latest Explorations and Surveys" (51x61 cm.).
