Description
Pre-Columbian, Mayan territories, probably Guatemala, Ca 550 to 850 CE. Very pleasing "poison" bottle - the term probably being a misnomer as most holding decorative powders and drugs. Rounded bottle with short neck and slightly flared rim. Each side of the bottle is decorated with a seated lord in profile, hands in front of his face, speak glyph emerging from his mouth. Vessel covered in orange/red slip. 3" H by 2-6/4" W. Quite attractive!
