Description
18th Century. A rare pair of Huanghuali wood folding chairs, china finely carved. Each has a rounded crest rail with scrolled arm ends, the vertical splat carved with a pair of dragons. The front legs curve up and extend forward to support the crest rail with metal posts and reinforced with metal brackets at the rounded hip having impressed decoration, the front rail of the seat carved with a pair of dragons and thefoot rest mounted in metal with a pierced coin design. H:41 in.PROVENANCE: PHILADELPHIA PRIVATE COLLECTION SINCE 1956.
