Joseph Wilhelm Wallander (1821- 1888) studied at the Art Academy. He also undertook field trips to Dusseldorf, Paris and Italy. He became a professor from 1867 to 1886. He painted genre paintings from Sweden, also with German motifs, scenes from Bellman's poems, and portraits. In particular, his canvases with peasant costumes of the county became popular. They also have a cultural and historical value.
