Description
H 15 1/8 in. This was an important underglaze blue dragon vase of the Xuande Period (1426-1435). The dragon was lively painted admist clouds and wrapped around the vase. Two ear handles were decorated as chilins. The Metropolitan Museum in San Francisco had another one similar to this except it was in underglaze red glaze. Xuande porcelains were considered to be the best among all period during the Ming Dynasty.
