A mid Victorian 9ct gold memorial swivel brooch, the oval double-sided photograph panel within a leaf and acorn surround to the shaped border inlaid with woven hair. Length 5.8cms Weight 24.9gms.

Overall good condition for the age of the piece, with light surface scratches in keeping with general wear. The central panel is riveted across the middle rather than lengthways, so it swivels lengthways rather than sideways and has a pin at the top to either stop or release it, both pieces are in good working order. The glass is in good condition with just a couple of small but fairly deep scratches to one panel. There is a small section of deeper scratches to the reverse of the brooch on the outer gold border. The pin and hinge are in good working order. There is a suspension loop to the top of the piece so it can also be worn as a pendant. The solder joins are becoming visible between the leaf and acorn decoration and the border. The woven hair is in good condition with just a few small pieces fraying, the end of the woven hair line can be seen at one part of the border, this is not easily noticeable. There are small areas of tarnishing throughout.
