Japanese Lantern Clock
Japanese, late 18th century. A lantern clock (yagura dokei) having iron movement with twin verge escapement and alarm, two adjustable foliot balances. Housed in a "mottled" brass case with original pyramid-shaped red and black lacquered stand, which supports the clock and hides the two Japanese fruit-form brass weights. An original lacquered hood with paper screens covers the clock. The clock dial chapter ring is also lacquered; total clock ht. 43.25 in.

Condition
Very good except for a small missing iron alarm setting peg, a slight lacquer loss to one side of the stand, and some damage to the paper screen in the hood.
