Condition

Original unlined canvas, craquelure throughout commensurate with age, older varnish, frame separating at upper corners, frame appears to be original to the painting. Surface grime and some minor accretions. Under UV examination there are only a few touches of inpaint/restoration in the region of the boy's head and along perimeter of canvas, probably to address frame abrasion. Varnish is uneven and appears to have been cleaned in the corners possibly by someone looking for the signature which remains beneath the old varnish layer untouched.
