Sold with all faults.++ 2 invoices for shipment of “Two Cases” and “Two Cases & one Bale Merchandize,” delivered to delivered to “Bennett & Hyman in “Norfolk, VA,” Sep. 16, 1846; and to “F. W. Moore & Bro., in “Washington, N.C.,” Sep. 9, 1846. Both were sent on the “Schooner... Two Brother.” Preprinted form, blanks filled in by hand. ++ Richmond and York River Rail Road Company. Stock certificate, 10 shares (each with a par value $100). Nov. 24, 1868. ++ FOR GOVERNOR HARRY ST. GEORGE TUCKER. 8-page small Z-fold campaign flyer. ++ RECD OF THOMAS JOHNSTON FIVE DOLLARS & SIXTY CENTS... May 1809/ Matthew Hanna. Handwritten receipt. Foxing. Previous owner’s pencilling. Blank verso has a clear tape repair. ++ MRS ELIZABETH BROWNS BOND TO W CHAMBERS... Handwritten receipt, with dates in 1846 and 1847. ++ Promissory note. 1838. ++ 3 letters on Office Valley Bank letterhead, each 1860, to an address in Moorefield. Recipient’s last name not legible, possibly “Andrew Sybert” or Andrew Siebert.” ++ Document certifying that the Constitutional Convention at Richmond June 12, 1901, had made Alexander Stuart a member of the Board of Registrars for the Glade Spring Magisterial District in Washington County, Virginia. Near fine, original envelope with state seal printed at upper left. Envelope has superficial dust-soiling and minor handling wear. ++ About 14 other letters and mailed invoices, mostly business related. One letter (on B. H. Jones & Co. letterhead, Nov. 6, 1896) mentions “Your note of $683.75 due at Lynchburg, Va: Nov. 21, and a $200 payment. Another is an advertising letter for a Plant Setter, accompanied by 4 small printed flyers. Mostly 1900-1902, some earlier and/or later. Very good to near fine, mostly in original envelope. (ome superficial dust-soiling and handling wear to envelopes). ++ About 30 cancelled checks, drawn on Alex Stuart’s accounts at The Bank of Glade Spring, The Lynchburg National Bank, and First National Bank. 1898-1899. Very good, most with a 2-cent stamp at corner ++ 2 other checks, 1862 and 1920, not related to Alex Stuart. ++ 2 others.
