KARL WOLFF
(1906-1975) Colonel-general in the Waffen-SS, liason officer for Himmler with Hitler, German military governor of Northern Italy. Good content war-date T.L.S. on "Der Reichsfuhrer-SS" letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Mar. 3, 1943 to SS Chief of Personnel Maximilian von Herff. In part: "...The enclosed envelope contains a remark of the Reichsfuhrer SS, pertaining to the matter of the divorce of SS-Oberfuhrers [Fritz] Kranefuss. The envelope is only allowed to be opened by the Reichsfuhrer-SS, the Chief of the personal staff of the Reichsfuhrer-SAS, and the Chief of the personnel main office, and after acknowledgement has to be closed and sealed again...". File holes at left margin and one corner clipped, else very good. FRITZ KRANEFUSS (1900-1945) was a very important asset to the SS. He was a major industrialist and military economy leader, and his rank was largely honorary. He was a major supporter of Himmler and one of the largest users of slave labor. Although the SS frowned on divorce, there's little doubt that Himmler allowed Kranefuss an exemption.
