one hallmarked, Birmingham, 1905, R&W, silver front cover embossed with figure of Christ, 'The Light of the World' and signed Holman Hunt, 8cm x 12cm; the second hallmarked, London, 1904, William Comyns, with a silver front cover embossed with five cherubs, 5cm x 5.5cm (2) Purchased: Consolidated Auctions, 1979, with original Eggleton notes Catalogue Note. "The Light of the World" (1853–54) is an allegory by the English painter, William Holman Hunt (1827 - 1910). Jesus is seen about to knock on an obscured door, illustrating the Biblical reference to Revelation 3:20: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me".
