Description
Built in 1864 by William Pomin, the Tahoe Hotel was known for its scenic location and for having the best game and fishing in the area. This photograph shows the hotel from a distance along with several other smaller buildings that surround the hotel. The photographer is identified as R.J. Waters, landscape photographer of Gold Hill, NV, who was active in the 1880s, but please note that he is listed in Berkeley on this card, which is not listed in Mautz. The matte measures 6.40"x 4.20" while the photograph measures 6.10" x 3.80." The focus is good and the contrast is medium. The photo has some wear on the upper left corner.
