Organized under the state laws of New York. No. 257. Uncancelled. Issued for 17 shares to Julius Wadsworth on October 14th, 1864 in New York. Signed by Nath. Hayden (president) and John N. Power (secretary). Twenty-five cent revenue stamp attached upper left. Measures 10" x 6 1/2". Printed by Howe & Ferry, New York. The Star Gold Mining Co. "owned 1200 feet on the Crystal, west of Virginia Canyon, near (Idaho Springs and Georgetown) from which they have run an adit west 200 feet... " (Hollister, p. 233). A three-page prospectus was printed in 1864 identifying the mining properties located in the Empire Mining and Trail Creek Districts of Colorado. Howe and Ferry also published the company by-laws in 1864. Very nice condition. CO
