MONROE MARILYN: (1926-1962) American Actress & Sex Symbol. A rare, early A.L.S., Norma Jeane, to the verso of a colour souvenir picture postcard from Chicago, Illinois, Chicago, 28th October 1944, to Catherine Staub (´My dearest Cathy´). The young Marilyn writes, in full ´I will write soon honey, but have been awfully busy. I´m having a grand time. I received 3 letters from Jimmie I was so happy. Will be back soon I miss you Cathy, Love, Norma Jeane´. Autographs of Monroe from this early stage of her career are rare and desirable. Some very light age wear to the corners of the verso not affecting the text or signature. About VG €3125-4375 ||Monroe refers to James ´Jimmie´ Dougherty (1921-2005) an American Policeman, best remembered for being the first husband of Marilyn Monroe. They had married on 19th June 1942 and at the time of the present letter Dougherty was travelling overseas as a merchant marine and Monroe was in Chicago visiting Grace Goddard, her foster mother, having earlier visited her sister Berniece in Detroit. The couple divorced in 1946.||
