BONAPARTE ELISA: (1777-1820) Grand Duchess of Tuscany 1809-14. Younger sister of Napoleon Bonaparte. L.S., Votre affectionée Elisa, two pages, small 4to, Florence, 28th October 1812, to Prince Archichancelier, in French. Elisa states ´I have received from His Highness the Prince Camille the letter that Your Highness has sent to me regarding the telegraphic message from the 24th of this month. Please accept my thanks for such attention. It doesn´t look like the discovered conspiracy in Paris would have branches in Toscana; In any case I shall try to make useless all the disturbers efforts. This event, and the distance to where His Majesty actually is, make me deeply wish to know all the details which could be of the interest of His Person. I claim to you, based on your friendship, all the news which you could give me regarding the conspiracy and regarding the Emperor´s health, all my concerns are on His Majesty...´. A very interesting letter referring to the conspiracy and attempt of coup d´etat against Napoleon I in October 1812. EX. €315-440
Camille Borghese (1775-1832) Prince of the Empire, husband of Napoleon´s sister Pauline. Jean-Jacques Régis de Cambaceres (1753-1824) Duke of Parma, second consul and Archichancelier of the Empire. Claude-François Malet (1764-1812) French General. Using false information regarding Napoleon´s death in Russia, General Malet, together with Lahorie and few other high officers, attempted an overthrow of the Imperial regime on the 23rd October 1812. Six days following all the officers involved were detained and shot.
