SOBIESKI STUART JOHN: (1795-1872) Pseudonym of John Carter Allen who, with his brother, has a place in Scottish cultural history for claiming to be the grandson of the claimant to the English throne, Charles Edward Stuart, the Young Pretender (1720-1788), also known as Bonnie Prince Charlie. Scarce A.L.S., John Sobieski Stuart, one page, 8vo, Pinner Street, 20th March n.y., to a lady. Sobieski Stuart writes 'I hasten to fulfil your desire, wishing only that I could have had equal opportunity to have received the pleasure of obeying your command in more important services….'
