GEORGE II (1683-1760) King of Great Britain and Ireland 1727-60 & NEWCASTLE DUKE OF (1693-1768) British Prime Minister 1754-56, 1757-62. A.L.S., Holles Newcastle, one page, 4to, Kensington, n.d., to King George II. Newcastle states 'I humbly presume to acquaint Your Majesty that I waited till this moment in hopes of receiving the money, which I was to have the honour of bringing this morning to Your Majesty' although adds that 'thro' some mistake or accident' the messenger has not returned from Lord Dupplin and Mr. Nugent. Newcastle further writes that he hopes to have the money before nine o'clock the next morning and 'will send it immediately sealed up to Your Majesty, or bring it tomorrow, as Your Majesty shall please to order'. To the verso King George has penned his response, an A.N.S., with his initials G R, comprising three lines of holograph text, sending his instructions to the Duke of Newcastle, in full, 'Should the money come time enough to day I should be glad, My Lord, if you would send it sealed and I'll acknowledge it immediately'. Some age wear, particularly to the central and lower horizontal folds, repaired to the verso and just affecting a few letters of Newcastle's letter. G €315-440
