PRINCE ADOLPHUS: (1774-1850) Duke of Cambridge, son of King George III and Queen Charlotte. A.L.S., Adolphus Frederick, one page, 4to, St. James's, 27th April 1804, to a gentleman. The Duke states that he had waited for the arrival of Captain Pringle before thanking his correspondent for their obliging letters 'and for the pains you have given yourself to get him released', further adding 'I beg you will take an opportunity of mentioning to the King of Prussia how sensible I am of His Majesty's goodness at granting my request & that the fear of troubling him with a letter had prevented my writing'. With blank integral leaf. A small brief printed biography is neatly affixed to the lower left corner. Together with a signed Free Front envelope panel by the Duke, hand addressed to The Lord Bishop of Exeter at Conduit Street, London, and signed ('Cambridge') in the lower left corner. The envelope, most likely unrelated to the letter, is neatly laid down and with some light age wear, G to VG, 2 €125-150
