Description
English School (18th Century) A rare pair of George III oil portraits of The Hon. Elizabeth Trefusis (Lady Mackworth), (1762-1799); and The Hon. Anne St. John Trefusis (Mrs Maxwell Adams), born 1763, the former playing a lute, the latter carrying an envelope oil on canvas, within original gilt frames moulded with acanthus foliage and guilloche (a pair) 35 x 27cm (14 x 11in)
Condition
Both unsigned. Both relined. In painted feigned ovals which show signs of cracking. Elizabeth Trefusis - possibly oil on paper mounted on canvas. Has been extended - originally on oval frames. Flaking and loss at lower corners. Some surface dirt, with a matte and uneven surface. Frame dusty but in good condition.
