Description
Belgium, 15th century. Cherub in heavy cast "white" metal with lovely expressive face, wings folded to each side. Interestingly, stamped on the reverse "Hamburg Sept 1945 Part of 15th cent. Church bell looted from Belgium in 1940-1941." Obviously a German spoils of war removed from their possession in 1945 at the conclusion of the war. 4-1/2" L.
