Silver Nobleman’s Cane-Ca. 1780-Substantial silver knob fashioned in a slightly tapering octagonal configuration and elaborately engraved with four repeating panels of a diamond pattern with tiny blooms and four others with different foliage and flowers. Malacca shaft with silver eyelets and a 3 3/4 in. long horn ferrule. This cane is distinguished by the signature of culture and a great feel of age. -Its profile speaks for French parentage.-H. 3” x 1 ½” O.L. 39 ¾”-Until the French revolution, it was the privilege of the aristocracy to wear a cane; similar examples of this period around 1750 are extremely rare and the great pride of the advanced collector.
