Dr. Wall Worcester Soft Paste Tea WaresÂ
England, ca 1760-1780. An unusually large group of 27 soft paste tea wares, consisting of a lidded teapot, a milk jug, a sugar bowl, and 12 handleless tea cups and saucers, and in the three flowers pattern and all marked with under glazed cobalt blue crescent, and all having The Burnap Collection stamp and inventory number; teapot, ht. 5.5 in., milk jug, ht. 4.5 in., saucers, dia. 4.25 in., tea cup dia. 3.75 in.Â
The Burnap Collection of English Pottery, with more than 1,300 examples of slipware, delftware and stoneware, is the most important collection of pre-industrial British pottery outside Britain. The collection, in part, was gifted to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, in the early 1950s. This service was purchased from Frank and Harriet Burnap by the consignor's mother.Â
