Description
Autograph Letter Signed ("Lafayette"), 1p. 7.5" x 5" (sight), Washington, 12 January 1825, in French to an unidentified recipient, written during his triumphant return to America. Not translated, but Lafayette reports that his friend, "M. Rush", is to receive two thousand dollars that, "…I asked the Bank of the United States Bank to send him, which will be used to aid French people in need in the United States." Endorsed in another hand below signed "Ch: Caron" and dated"26 Feby." Minor folds and creases, else very good condition. Matted and framed with an engraving of Lafayette. Not examined out of frame.
