Description
Two informal robes, Chinese, early 20th century. both in midnight blue satin, one worked in mainly blue and white silks with contrasting sleeve bands, the other with floral sprigs in pastel tones; together with an embroidered blue satin kimono c.1900 and a burgundy damask kimono 1950s (4)
Condition
• Blue on blue robe – generally good condition, rear hem the embroidered border needs re-stitching, faint stains to ivory silk sleeve bands, a few floating threads to sleeve bands, gilt brass buttons say ‘TW Rich Treble Gilt’, plain blue silk lining is good
• Coloured embroidery on blue – re-lined, replaced black edgings, lacking sleeve bands, lacking all original trimmings, embroidery is generally good, couple of small moth holes to rear panel
• Blue satin kimono - lining is badly perished, numerous floating threads, wear to collar
• Damask kimono – good condition
