Description:
Stereoview card, approximately 3½x7".
Holograph presentation on the rear, signed by the keeper of the Yosemite Valley Cosmopolitan Saloon, J.C. Smith, giving a description of the volume and its cost: "Great Register, Weight 100 lbs, Cost $55. Bound with solid silver, lined inside watered silk". The register pictured currently resides in the Yosemite National Park Museum. Its importance cannot be overstated. Presidents, writers, luminaries of every description and just plain folk graced its pages with their interpretation of the Yosemite experience. It is the cornerstone of the most comprehensive collection of any national park. This is an extremely rare image made all-the-more unique by the Smith presentation. Provenance: John Carpenter.
