Greek Attic black-figure Lekythos or jug, early 5th Century BC, executed in buff clay in the form of a one handle footed jug with the shoulders offset from the body, the rim, handle, and bottom third of the jug are covered in black slip, the central reserve is filled with a finely painted image of three hoplites or soldiers in crested helmets and carrying shields and swords all advancing to the left, one looks over his shoulder, the whole rising on a circular foot (broken but repairable) previously restored and with a CA from The Gallereum, 12.5"h x 5"w.
