Yosef Zvi Geiger of Safed, a Safed folk-artist, was born in Safed [1870-1944]. He lived on the Bar Yochai alley in Safed. He did not usually sign his works. Refer to the catalogue of the Feuchtwanger Collection, Israel Museum, item 438, for Geiger's work from [1893]. Also refer to "Amanut V'Omanut B'Eretz Yisrael B'Meah H-19". Israel Museum. Pages 133-135, ibid, "Safed elders say that Geiger was the most distinguished of its artists, Even Shalom Moskowitz, "Shalom MiTezfat" says that his father knew him."
