J. E. MCCLEES, PHILADELPHIA, P.A. 1859 PAINTED PHOTOGRAPH: Excellently painted and gilded photograph of a woman in black with a white bonnet resting her hand upon an open book. Skillfully painted and picked out in gilding, image,8.5" h x 6.375" w; housed in an extravagantly carved and gilded oval frame with reverse painted white and gilded mat, verso bears McClees studio label, dated April 1859 and Numbered 2341, frame dimensions: 17"h x 14" w. James Earle McClees (1821 - 1857, America) McClee's work can be found in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Museum, America.
Condition
CONDITION: Photo with the lightest of flaking as shown but color strong and vivid, frame with exceptionally light wear considering age.
