Description
MIOCENE to PLIOCENE PERIOD: 16 - 1.81 million years ago. Beaufort - South Carolina, U.S.A.. A choice collector grade fossil shark tooth is from the jaws of a huge Megalodon shark. Tooth features beautiful chatoyant steel blue-gray enamel displaying a natural high luster. Serrations and tip are intact and super crisp with no missing serrated portions of the crown at the base of the tooth where it meets the root. Complete black bourlette is a nice compliment and a black full root is well-preserved and intact. This tooth would have come from the upper jaw of a giant Megalodon shark. The lower teeth served to hold the Megalodon's prey while the upper teeth closed down and sheared huge chunks of flesh off. This specimen has NO REPAIR AND NO RESTORATION. 4" (10 cm) in length on the diagonal edge
